Description
Dr. Hisao Ishigaki’s fly: just black thread and a grizzly rooster hackle tied slightly forward. Two materials, maximum effect — in tenkara, presentation is what counts.
The Sakasa Kebari is the iconic tenkara fly: the forward-facing hackle opens and closes with every pull of the line, giving the fly a pulsing action that trout find hard to ignore. Fish it on the surface, just below it or in mid-water with short, rhythmic pulses.
